Goodbye Germany

On the 6 th of March David left his home town Wunsiedel in direction Munich. In the last month he prepared his camper  there for the big journey.

After the farewell party at the Isar river in Munich on the 8th of March, David  and his friend Felix, the first passenger of JoinMyRide left Munich on the 9th of March in direction Slovakia. There was no detailed plan were to go. On the way both decided to have a stop in Bratislava, Slovakia, after passing through Austria.

After having a small city tour we came out of the restaurant and realized that the biggest demonstration in the last decades in Slovakia had gathered around our parking. Our camper Johnny was surrounded by 40000 people and jounalists already climbed up the camper van to get better pictures. The people were demonstrating for a stable democracy, against corruption and  the freedom of press. The whole movement was triggered by the murder of a journalist and his fiancy.

During the demonstration we met Martin, a Slovakian fotographer who also does outdoor and adventures fotography and who gave us some good advise were to go ski touring the next days.

After the demonstration we continued our trip to our new destinations, the Lower Tatras mountains. Martin told us that we can easily sleep at the ski area Jasna on the parking with our van.

Our Ski touring experiences in Slovakia is part of the next Blog entry!
